YELLOW TRIANGLES - JAMDANI HANDMADE SCARF
This gorgeous Jamdani handmade scarf is hand-woven on the loom, using fine hand-spun cotton yarn (khadi). We love this take on the traditional Jamdani weave from West Bengal, India. The traditional temple motif is transformed into fun yellow triangles, and this handmade scarf pairs well with anything you wear!
The history of this royal weave can be traced back to the 3rd century BC, with its earliest mention in the Arthashatra, an ancient Indian text. This weave was principally practised by the skilled weavers of Bangladesh and came to the notice of the world as early as 1851, when it was displayed in all its glory in a London exhibition. As the years passed, weavers from Bangladesh settled in the Eastern parts of India and brought with them their skills and craft. Jamdani is one of the most labour intensive and skilful of weaving techniques, where threads are passed through the fabric while weaving, to create elaborate patterns and motifs.
Subtle variations are intrinsic to the charm and uniqueness of a handcrafted product like this handmade scarf.
